Learning, Training & Employment Pathways

The Learning,Training and Employment Pathways (LTEP) network was created to:

  • Adopt an approach to policy development within LTEP that locates the Third Sector proactively as an agenda setter
  • Create space for third sector organisations and networks operating within LETP to progress their priorities. We organise formal meetings, informal discussion groups, group emails and online discussion forums
  • Make use of a full range of inclusive and interactive communications channels. We produce a regular LTEP e-bulletins
  • Build upon third sector activity and established good practice within LETP. We produce policy briefings and offer reference to research publications.

The next meeting of the Learning, Training and Employment Pathways Network will include an update on the Employment and Support Allowances (ESA) by mary Donnelly from JobCentre Plus as well as a presentation by Birmingham City Council about the outcomes of the Innovations Fund.

Legal Training in Risk Assessing Contracts

Do you need legal guidance to effectively risk assess potential contracts?

Suitable for all organisations entering or delivering public service contracts, this free specialist legal training is jointly designed and delivered by TPP Law (specialist solicitors in public service partnerships and projects) and NCVO. The training centres on close analysis of contract clauses, particularly assessment of risk, understanding cashflow and payment implications, and stipulations on the duration and close of contracts.

Wednesday 8th September 2010 - The Work Programme Event

The Network hosted on the Work Programme to inform voluntary organisations about the national policy context of the Work Programme and to explore how the voluntary sector can get involved with the Programme.

Monday 17th May 2010 - Hot Topic: Total Place

Each of the Assembly's thematic networks met in May to explore how the voluntary and community sector can engage and support Birmingham's Total Place Priorities.

Friday 26th and Monday 29th March 2010 - Hot Topic: Worklessness, Volunteering and Health

The Learning, Training and Employment Pathways Network and the Health and Social Care Network hosted two discussion sessions, looking at the relationship between Worklessness, Volunteering and Health.

Thursday 5th November 2009 - Hot Topic: Future Jobs Fund

The network hosted two sessions on the Future Jobs Fund. Session one invited organisations that were involved with the Fund to discuss their experiences and to highlight any issues. Session two invited organisations that were not involved in the fund to come and find out more about the fund.

1st and 10th April 2008 - Hot Topic: Worklessness

The network held two events to identify the sector's position on "worklessness". These events were extremely sucessful and a third sector position paper was produces in May 2008. This paper was received by Be Birmingham, and as a result, a meeting took place between third sector partners and Be Birmingham to discuss and agree the involvement of the third sector in the delivery of worklessness programmes.
